Precious metals rise, silver jumps over 2%

Prices of precious metals advanced into the green territory on Wednesday as investors turned towards safe-haven assets amid the rising numbers of coronavirus infections around the globe. In addition, the United States dollar index dropped as the optimism grew that the negotiations on the fourth coronavirus relief bill could bear fruit.

Gold was up 1.23% against the dollar at 4:47 pm CET, selling for $1,930.47 per ounce. Silver jumped 2.43% to $25.24 per oz at the same time, while platinum climbed 2.06% to $894.82 per oz. Price of an ounce of palladium gained 0.27% to sell for $2,409.84 at 4:47 pm CET.
