Nokia Corporation announced on Tuesday it had signed a deal to distribute 5G radio equipment to BT Group, becoming the British telecommunications company's largest provider. The Finnish tech firm will contribute to its partner's operations with its AirScale Radio Access system that will enhance BT's 5G coverage and support its "goal of maintaining the United Kingdom's best network."

"Digital connectivity is critical to the UK's economic future, creating jobs, and underpinning sustainable growth," BT Group's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Philip Jansen said. "With this next stage of our successful relationship with Nokia, we will continue to lead the rollout of fixed and mobile networks to deliver stand-out experiences for customers."

Earlier this year, Nokia confirmed it was launching commercial 5G standalone (SA) private wireless networking solutions for industrial clients such as Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology.
