Several American companies have raised concerns about United States President Donald Trump's decision to ban them from doing business with WeChat, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the report, companies including Apple, Disney, Ford, Walmart, Goldman Sachs, UPS and Intel participated in a call with White House officials during which they expressed worries about the executive order set to take effect in September. Craig Allen, president of the US-China business council, noted that US companies are "going to be held at a severe disadvantage to every competitor" if they are not allowed to use WeChat.

Last week, Trump signed an executive order saying that any US entity that takes part in transactions with WeChat parent Tencent Holdings Ltd. will be subject to sanctions, starting 45 days after the publication of the document.
