Markets in the United States turned positive on Thursday after starting the session with slight losses. Stocks were boosted by the better-than-expected jobless claims report, which showed jobless claims dropped by 249,000 last week.

The Dow Jones gained 0.23% at 10:27 am ET. The best performer was McDonald's, which rose 1.97% at 10:33 am ET, followed by Apple, up 1.03%.

The Nasdaq 100 added 0.22% at 10:28 am ET with Fiserv, whose shares jumped 3.57%, as the best performer. The S&P 500 increased by 0.14% at 10:29 am ET. ViacomCBS surged 5.33% at 10:30 after its quarterly results topped estimates.

The euro fell 0.29% against the dollar to sell for 1.18288 at 10:29 am ET.
