Dow falls 200 pts premarket on COVID-19 worries

Shares on Wall Street traded lower in premarket on Tuesday with the Dow Jones dropping over 200 index points as investors' concerns over the coronavirus pandemic persist.

The United States registered nearly 55,000 daily cases in the past day, a growth from the day prior, while the state of California marked an all-time high in COVID-19 daily infections. Meanwhile, Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank President Raphael Bostic claimed that the US economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis may be "leveling off" due to the severe epidemiological situation in the country.

The Dow lost 0.78% at 4:26 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 slipped 0.32% and 0.62% at the same time, respectively.

The euro slid 0.30% against the dollar, going for 1.12756 at 4:28 am ET.
