Nokia Corp. announced on Monday it has teamed up with Broadcom Corp. to start developing chips for 5G equipment, as part of measures aimed at diversifying its supply chains.

The Finnish telecommunications company previously revealed its 5G products couldn't be released on time due to supplier issues. Therefore, Nokia turned to more affordable custom chips and partnered with additional suppliers to reduce risks connected to supply chains.

Several other companies worldwide have also been competing at the 5G market besides Nokia, including Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson, Qualcomm Inc. and Huawei Technologies Co.
