Wall Street opens lower as protests continue

Stocks on the United States markets went down at the open on Thursday as the investors are focused on the ongoing civil riots that are happening throughout the country. Also, even though the number of initial jobless claims in the US for the week ending May 30 decreased by 246,000, continuing jobless claims severely increased, reaching almost 21.5 million.

The Dow sank 0.30% at the open as Caterpillar Inc. decreased by 1.28%. The Nasdaq started 0.21% lower with Broadcom falling 2.02%. The S&P 500 kicked off by declining 0.34%. Gap Inc. led the losses, declining 4.35%.

The euro rose 0.27% compared to the dollar to sell for $1.12637 at 9:30 am ET.
