Bayer's sales up 3.8% to €10.75B in Q4

German pharmaceutical company Bayer AG announced on Thursday that its revenue rose 3.8% year-on-year to €10.75 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019. The company's basic earnings per share stood at €1.29 in the same trimester, rising 8% on an annual basis.

For the whole fiscal year 2019, the Leverkusen-based firm posted revenue at €43.55 billion, climbing 3.5% compared to 2018. Basic earnings per share increased by 14.3% annually to €6.40 over the same 12-month period while net income surged 141% year-over-year, landing at €4.1 billion. Meanwhile, the company said its earnings before income, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) went up by 28.3% to €11.5 billion.

"We achieved our financial targets despite coming up against a challenging market environment in the agriculture sector in particular," the company's Chairman of the Board of Management Werner Baumann commented on the results.
