Pound jumps over 2% on Conservative election win news

The British pound surged over 2% on Thursday following the exit polls showing Conservatives were to win the majority in the United Kingdom's general election.

The sterling traded 1.95% higher against the United States dollar, changing hands for 1.34282 at 11:08 pm CET. Against the euro, the currency rose 1.81% to sell for 1.20450 a minute later.
