US markets close higher after Fed's decision

Stock markets on Wall Street closed in the green on Wednesday after the decision by Federal Open Market Committee to keep interest rates unchanged was announced. Meanwhile, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that consumer inflation was up to 2.1% in November year-on-year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index was 0.10% higher at the closing bell. United Technologies Corp. added the most, 1.31%.

The Nasdaq 100 increased by 0.58% at the end of the trading session. Semiconductor company Skyworks Solutions was the best performer, jumping 4.69% and also leading the gains at the S&P 500, which rose by 0.29% at the close.

The euro was flat compared to the dollar, trading at 1.11359 at 4:07 pm ET, while the pound declined 0.09% against the US currency, going for 1.31956 at 4:09 pm ET.
