US stocks decline on report Trump-Xi meeting may be delayed

Stocks on Wall Street turned negative on Wednesday after reports emerged that a meeting between United States President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping could be delayed until December. The two leaders were expected to meet this month to sign a phase one trade agreement, but may have to postpone the encounter as the two sides still haven't decided on the location.

The Dow Jones declined 0.27% at 11:54 am ET. The worst performer was Walgreens, sliding 2.91% at 12:03 pm ET.

The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.64% at 11:54 am ET with Microchip Technology Incorporated, whose shares plunged 5% at 11:58 am ET, leading the losses.

The S&P 500 was down 0.26% at 11:54 am ET. Diamondback Energy pulled the index down as it plummeted 12.53% at 12:04 pm ET.
