US markets open higher as Microsoft hits record high

Major stock market indexes on Wall Street traded with gains on Friday and the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped over 100 points amid earnings releases from the second quarter in which the world's most valuable publicly traded company, Microsoft, posted better than expected earnings which led it to new all-time highs before the bell. Investors were also paying close attention to comments from the Fed's James Bullard and John Williams as United States President Donald Trump called for a cut in interest rates.

The Dow traded 0.31% higher at 9:32 am ET and Microsoft jumped 2.27% to $139.39 at 9:47 am ET.

The Nasdaq 100 was up by 0.53% at 9:32 am ET as Ctrip.com increased 2.41% at 9:48 am ET.

The S&P 500 traded with gains of 0.36% at 9:32 am ET.

The euro lost 0.48% at 9:33 am ET and went for 1.12227 against the dollar. The pound was 0.24% down compared to the greenback at 9:35 am ET, changing hands for 1.25155 and the US currency increased by 0.38% to 107.6940 at 9:36 am ET.
