Asia trades lower as Wall Street takes a break

Asian markets traded mostly with slight losses on Friday as United States stock indexes were closed for Independence Day. South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. announced its operating profit for the second fiscal quarter of 2019 fell by 56% ahead of its full earnings report later in the month.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 fell by 0.13% at 4:20 am CET. The South Korean Kospi Composite was down 0.51% at 4:01 am CET.

In China, the Shanghai Composite lost 0.28% at 4:20 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite rose by just 0.07% at 4:21 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was flat at 04:22 am CET.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was 0.33% higher at 4:22 am CET.

The dollar was unchanged compared to the yen and sold for ¥107.8295 at 4:23 am CET.
