ADP measures rise in US employment of 177,000

The employment change registered for last month in the United States came in at 177,000 for June on a seasonally adjusted basis after an increase of 189,000 for the previous month, Automatic Data Processing said on Thursday. The tally for May was revised upward by 11,000.

The share of hiring in midsized businesses in the unofficial measure of nonfarm employment was 80,000, trailed by 69,000 in large companies. Most of the boost from the prior months' pace was measured in healthcare and social assistance, with 37,000 new workers, which accounted for a quarter of additions the non-manufacturing sector.

"Business' number one problem is finding qualified workers. At the current pace of job growth, if sustained, this problem is set to get much worse," said Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, which participates in the survey. One year earlier, companies reported 154,000 hires.
