Europe closes mostly higher as BoE keeps rates

Stock exchanges in Europe closed mostly higher on Thursday after the Bank of England (BoE) decided against altering its monetary policy. Earlier in the day, Adidas, Bayer, Credit Agricole and Siemens all published their latest respective quarterly reports.

The DAX increased by 0.33% at the close as Merck KGaA jumped 6.83% following a better-than-expected earnings release. London's FTSE 100 was flat at the end of the trading session. In Paris, the CAC 40 closed 0.52% higher as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield rose by 5.12%.

The euro was flat against the dollar, selling for 1.18420 at 5:29 pm CET, while the pound gained 0.33% compared to the greenback, changing hands for 1.389332 concurrently.
