SMIC rises 4% on $1.2 billion ASML deal

Shanghai-based Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp.'s (SMIC) shares jumped 4% after the company revealed a $1.2 billion deal with Dutch chip-making equipment producer ASML Holding N.V.

The two companies announced that they extended their Volume Purchase Agreement (VPA) until the end of December 2021. The original partnership deal kicked off on January 1, 2018.

SMIC's stock rose 3.42% to HK$28.75 at 3:25 CET, after reaching a daily high of HK$29.00 at 3:09.
