Europe up in premarket after Trump impeachment

Shares in Europe traded higher in the premarket on Thursday after the United States House of Representatives voted in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer described the move as an act of defending democracy, and President-elect Joe Biden praised the bipartisan support to the call. Meanwhile, Johnson and Johnson's vaccine against COVID-19 showed efficacy in early trials.

The DAX traded 0.43% higher at 7:42 am CET, while at the same time, the FTSE 100 went up by 0.32%, and the CAC 40 rose by 0.39%.

Both the euro and the pound sterling stood flat against the dollar, selling for $1.21511 and $1.36306, respectively, at 7:29 am CET.
