Report: Biden to pick Gina Raimondo for commerce secy | ![]() |

United States President-elect tapped Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo to join his administration as the country's next commerce secretary, the New York Times reported on Thursday citing a Democrat familiar with the matter. Raimondo, who has been serving as the governor of Rhode Island since 2015, previously chaired the Democratic Governors Association for a year in 2018 and 2019. According to media reports, Tom Steyer, a hedge fund manager and former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, Meg Whitman, a board member of Procter & Gamble and Dropbox, and Starbucks Corporation Chairwoman Mellody Hobson are also being considered for the Commerce Department's head. |
