US bond yields rise after more vaccine news

The returns on United States Treasuries increased on Monday as optimism over the potential end of the coronavirus pandemic increased following AstraZeneca and Oxford University's announcement on the efficacy and price of their COVID-19 vaccine candidate.

The 30-year Treasury yield rose by 2.7 basis points to 1.558% at 8:39 am ET and the return on the 10-year Treasury was up by 2.8 basis points as it reached 0.857% at the same time. Meanwhile, the 2-year note return was unchanged at 0.163% at 8:10 am ET.

Their respective bond futures prices, which move in the opposite direction to yields, were down 0.34%, 0.15% and 0.01%, all at 8:32 am ET.
