The former head of Wirecard, Markus Braun (pictured), declined on Thursday to answer any questions from German state prosecutors in Munich.

He said he will not say more in front of the committee, and added he first wanted to speak to the public prosecutor. "In the end, independent judges will decide who bears legal responsibility for the collapse of the Wirecard AG company," he stated after refusing to answer any questions.

Braun is accused of being one of the main culprits for "commercial gang fraud" using Wirecard as a vehicle to commit fraud acts that lead to losses of approximately €3.2 billion. Also, there are additional charges against him for infidelity, incorrect presentation, and market manipulation.
