US stocks open in green on vaccine optimism

Major stock indexes in the United States started trading higher on Wednesday as the presidential elections and the coronavirus vaccine remain in the spotlight. Moderna Inc.'s chief executive announced today that an interim analysis of the company's vaccine will be available this month. In other news, OPEC reported that it expects the global economy to shrink 4.3% in 2020, with the US GDP seen decreasing 3.6%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.53% at the opening bell as 3M Co. increased 3.49%. The Nasdaq 100 rose 0.95%, with Zoom Video Communications Inc. growing 5.75%. The S&P 500 gained 0.66% as Qualcomm Inc. advanced 3.12%.

The euro slid 0.47% against the greenback at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.17536 dollars.
