Wall Street closes higher on ongoing post-election race

Equities on major United States stock markets closed the trading session higher on Thursday as the post-election rally continues and investors are hoping that the new United States President will be elected soon. The campaign manager of Democratic nominee Joe Biden, Jen O'Malley Dillon said earlier the victory is "imminent." on the other hand, the Trump campaign has already filed lawsuits in Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania and is expected to file a similar suit in Nevada soon.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained 1.95% or 542 points at the close as Dow Inc increased by 5.43%. The Nasdaq 100 surged 2.56% with Qualcomm jumping 12.75%. The S&P 500 rose by 1.94% at the end of the trading session. Albermarle Corp. was the best performer rising 12.92%.

The euro was 0.95% higher compared to the dollar, changing hands for 1.18272 at 3:59 pm ET.
