Wall Street closes higher on possible stimulus deal

Equities on major United States stock markets closed the trading session higher on Tuesday after the US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hinted that Democrats and the White House are making progress in negotiations for a new fiscal stimulus deal.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated the upper house of Congress would consider approving a "larger" coronavirus relief package if a bipartisan agreement is reached.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained 0.39% at the close with The Travelers Companies Inc. growing by 5.61%. The Nasdaq 100 surged 0.37% as Pinduoduo surged by 5.85%. The S&P 500 rose by 0.47% at the end of the trading session. General Motors was the best performer growing by 6.75%.

The euro was 0.47% higher compared to the dollar, changing hands for 1.18246 at 3:56 pm ET.
