Wall Street opens mostly in green amid vaccine optimism

Stocks on Wall Street moved in mostly positive territory following the opening bell on Tuesday after BioNTech SE and Pfizer Inc. announced that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will start a rolling review of the companies' coronavirus vaccine candidate BNT162b2. Also, investors are waiting for Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's speech later in the day as well as the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) report.

The Dow was up 0.23% during the first minute of trading in New York City with the Dow Inc. growing by 1.61%. The S&P 500 went up by 0.12%. Devon Energy Corp. was the best performer jumping by 2.06%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.28%. ASML Holding NV dropped by 1.97%.

The euro was up 0.11% against the dollar at 9:27 am ET, buying 1.17989.
