Musk: Tesla to have new version of autopilot in about a month

Tuesday, 22. September 2020 23:30

Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday during an annual shareholder meeting that the company's main objective when manufacturing vehicles is safety, describing Tesla as the safest car on the market.

"We have the lowest probability of injury than any car tested by the US government," Musk noted, adding that minimizing the number of car accidents is at the core of the company's car designs and that, with that goal in mind, Tesla plans to release a new version of autopilot in about a month.

Musk went on to say, despite 2020 being the "most difficult year in Tesla's existence," the company has had a good year from an annual profitability standpoint and that the future is looking promising.

Tesla shares ended the day at $424.23 and were up 2.97% in after-hours trade.
