US stocks open higher on earnings, data

Major stock markets in the United States opened higher on Wednesday after major companies such as Boeing, Spotify, and General Motors revealed their earnings reports for the second quarter of the year. Traders are still waiting for the Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates, the pending home sales data, and the earnings reports by PayPal and Qualcomm.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded higher by 0.14% at the opening as Dow Inc. advanced 0.86%. The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.66% with Advanced Micro Devices going up by 12.11%. The S&P 500 grew by 0.33% as L Brands Inc. rose by 29.76%.

The euro increased by 0.33% to the dollar to sell for $1.17545 at 9:27 am ET.
