Tesla Inc.'s Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that the company will build its next Gigafactory in the vicinity of Texas capital of Austin.

Speaking during the second-quarter earnings call, Musk specified that it will be constructed in a 2,000-acre site in Travis County, approximately 15 minutes from the city's downtown. Tesla's upcoming Cybertruck pickup will be made at the facility, he also revealed.

The plant "will create at least 5,000 new jobs and generate over $1 billion in capital investment," Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a separate statement, claiming that the factory "will keep the Texas economy the strongest in the nation and will create thousands of jobs for hard-working Texans."
