Tesla Q2 vehicle deliveries top expectations

Electric carmaker Tesla, Inc. managed to beat expectations with its second-quarter delivery figures released on Thursday.

In the update, Tesla said it produced over 82,000 vehicles and delivered approximately 90,650 vehicles despite coronavirus pandemic leading to a closure of its Fremont facility. Elon Musk's company had delivered 88,400 vehicles in the first quarter of 2020.

"While our main factory in Fremont was shut down for much of the quarter, we have successfully ramped production back to prior levels," the company said. Shares of Tesla surged 9.50% to $1,225.99 in premarket trading following the announcement.
