Wall Street opens higher despite rising virus worries

Major stock markets in the United States opened higher on Monday in spite of the growing concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic. The number of daily registered infections reached its all-time high on Friday, urging several states and counties to postpone reopening. Traders also continue to follow the dispute between social media, most notably Facebook, and companies that decided to suspend their advertisements on their platforms due to policy disagreements.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 0.83% at the opening bell's sound as Boeing Co increased by 5.44%. The Nasdaq 100 grew by 0.05% with CDW Corporation rising 0.99%. The S&P 500 went up by 0.56% as Coty Inc gained 11.48%.

The euro increased by 0.50% compared to the dollar to sell for $1.12752 at 9:27 am ET.
