Asia trades mixed amid US-China tensions

Stocks in Asia traded mixed in morning trade on Wednesday as investors focused on rising tensions between the United States and China over the Hong Kong national security law, as well as easing coronavirus concerns and the gradual lifting of lockdowns.

Japan's Nikkei 225 added 0.27% at 4:00 am CET. The dollar lost 0.05% against the yen to sell for 107.4885 at the same time.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.37% at 4:01 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.14% at 4:00 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite was up 0.04% at 3:47 am CET. In South Korea, the Kospi gained 0.11% at 4:03 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.15% at the same time.
