Asia trades mostly lower after weak Chinese data

Stocks on Asian markets traded mostly lower on Wednesday after it was reported that China's service sector activity dropped in February. Meanwhile, the number of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases rose to more than 80,000 in China and exceeded 5,000 in South Korea.

The Nikkei 225 index added 0.08% at the end of the trading session. The Shanghai Composite fell by 0.12% at 6:54 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite Index declined by 0.90% at 7:10 am CET. The Hang Seng lost 0.07% one minute later, while the Kospi jumped 2.37% at 7:12 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia decreased by 1.71% at the close.

The dollar was 0.19% higher compared to the yen, going for 107.411 at 7:13 am CET.
