Asian stocks mixed on Chinese data

Equities on major Asian stock markets were mixed on Friday after China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that the country's GDP grew by 6% in the fourth quarter. Retail sales were 8% up in December on a yearly basis, while industrial production gained 6.9% annually in the same month, according to the NBS.

The Shanghai Composite was flat at 6:48 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite Index was 0.06% lower at 7:03 am CET. The Hang Seng lost 0.08% at 7:04 am CET, while in Japan, the Nikkei 225 index was 0.45% higher at the close. The Kospi increased by 0.21% at 7:05 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia rose by 0.32% at the end of the trading session.

The dollar was 0.07% up compared to the yen, going for 110.214 at 7:08 am CET.
