Wall Street opens higher on upbeat data

Equities in the Wall Street stock markets opened the trading session in the green on Wednesday after economic data showed increases in GDP growth and orders of durable goods, as well as a decrease in initial jobless claims.

Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump said yesterday that a potential trade deal with Beijing has to be "good," adding that he is making sure such an agreement is reached and the reason why he is "personally holding it up." He also claimed that since he assumed office, the stock market hit its 132nd record.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose 0.06% at the open. Apple was the best performer, increasing by 0.62% at 9:47 am ET.

The Nasdaq 100 added 0.26%. BioMarin Pharmaceutical led the gains, jumping 1.82% at 9:33 am ET.

The S&P 500 climbed 0.16%. Under Armour's stock surged 6.73% at 9:31 am ET.

The euro was 0.24% lower against the dollar, trading at 1.09979 at 9:34 am ET, while the pound rose by 0.10% compared to the greenback, going for 1.28770 one minute later.
