Dow drops 100 pts in premarket trade

Shares on Wall Street extended losses in premarket on Wednesday as investors anticipated the speech by the Federal Reserve's Chairman Jerome Powell. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics report on inflation is scheduled to be released later in the day.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index fell by 102 points and was down 0.37% at 6:27 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 was 0.43% lower at 6:29 am ET, while the S&P 500 dipped 0.37% at the same time.

The euro and the British pound were flat compared to the dollar at 6:31 am ET, going for 1.10112 and 1.28458, respectively.
