Wall Street opens mixed amid US-China deal doubts

Equities in the United States' stock markets were mixed at the open on Thursday after it was reported that Beijing doesn't consider a long-term trade deal with Washington possible. Meanwhile, the Commerce Ministry in Beijing said that trade negotiations between the two sides are "progressing well." Earlier in the day, the data reports on personal spending and the initial jobless claims in the US were published.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index decreased by 0.10% at the open, with Walgreens Boots Alliance falling the most, 1.28%, at 9:46 am ET.

The Nasdaq 100 added 0.22% at 9:30 am ET with the Kraft Heinz Company as its best performer, surging 6.22% at 9:33 am ET.

The S&P 500 was flat in the first minute of trading.

The euro was flat against the dollar to trade at 1.11457 at 9:34 am ET, while the pound increased by 0.41% compared to the US currency, going for 1.29523 at 9:35 am ET.
