Trading on Wall Street kicked off in positive territory on Friday with the Dow Jones jumping over 100 points. This week's trading was marked by high volatility amid falling bond yields and a further escalation in the United States-China trade war.

The Dow climbed 172 points in the first moments of the session as retail giant Walmart led the gains. On Thursday, President Donald Trump praised Walmart for its quarterly results. The S&P 500 added 0.70% with Nvidia surging 8% following the company's earnings. The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.98%; Micron was among the top gainers.

The euro fell 0.32% against the dollar at 9:45 am ET, buying 1.10715.
