Stocks push higher as US mulls lifting China tariffs

Stocks on Wall Street jumped on Thursday following news Washington is weighing rolling back tariffs on Chinese imports. According to the report, US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin proposed the move in an effort to advance trade talks with Beijing.

Earlier, China's Ministry of Commerce confirmed Vice Premier Liu He will pay a two-day visit to Washington as part of the ongoing trade talks on January 30-31.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average spiked 0.89%, the S&p 500 climbed 0.98%, while the Nasdaq 100 advanced 1% at 2:45 pm ET.
