European shares rise premarket as May faces challenge

Shares in Europe were in the green in Wednesday's premarket trading shortly before the opening bell, as the British Prime Minister Theresa May faces a leadership challenge over the defeat of her Brexit deal in the Parliament yesterday. Meanwhile, in data, Germany's Destatis reported a 1.9% increase in consumer prices for the whole of 2018. Later in the day, reports on United Kingdom's producer and consumer price changes are scheduled for release.

In Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.44%. The CAC 40 added 0.51% in premarket trading, while London's FTSE 100 was up 0.14%. EU Stoxx 50 advanced 0.47%.

The euro slid 0.13% against the dollar, selling for $1.13980 at 8:54 am CET, while the pound declined by 0.14% against the greenback at the same time, to go for $1.2866.
