Europe higher in premarket ahead of data

Equities in Europe traded higher in premarket on Thursday, as Germany and the European Union are to present their latest reports on consumer confidence and business climate. European Central Bank (ECB) Chief Economist Philip Lane will give his update on the current state of the economy, severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, Moderna Inc. announced it would start testing the new version of its vaccine against COVID-19, designed to target the South African strain of the disease.

The DAX traded 0.59% higher at 7:12 am CET. At the same time, the FTSE 100 rose by 0.40%, and the CAC 40 went up by 0.49%.

The euro gained 0.08% against the dollar to change hands for $1.21757 at 7:18 am CET. A minute later, the pound advanced by 0.16% against the greenback, selling for $1.41590.
