US opens mostly lower despite jobs data

Major stock market indexes in the United States traded mostly lower at the start of Thursday's session, despite the Labor Department's report which unveiled that the number of initial job claims in the country dropped by 228,000 in the week ending August 8.

Meanwhile, the tensions between Beijing and Washington continued to mount as US President Donald Trump accused China of "buying off" the American media.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.42% as the session started, as Raytheon Technologies saw a 2.01% fall. The Nasdaq 100 concurrently advanced 0.16%, with Tesla Inc jumping 2.85%. The S&P 500 dipped 0.31% at the opening bell, as Cisco Systems plunged 10.75%. The euro went up 0.48% versus the dollar, changing hands at $1.18411 at 9:33 am ET.
