Asia stocks mostly up on COVID vaccine optimism

Major stock market indexes in Asia traded mostly higher on Monday after it was revealed the American biotechnology company Moderna, Inc. received $472 million from the US government for coronavirus vaccine development as the company's vaccine candidate enters its third phase of clinical trials.

In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite went up by 1.68% at 4:43 am CET, while at the same time, the Shanghai Composite, added 0.32%. At 4:49 am CET, Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded 0.3% higher, as South Korea's Kospi increased by 1.26%, with the Australian S&P/ASX 200 rising 0.13% a minute later.

The dollar, however, fell 0.54% against the yen, going for ¥105.5525 at 04:51 am CET, with Japan's Nikkei 225 losing 0.54% at 4:30 am CET.
