The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 300 points in late trade on Friday, setting the blue-chip index on pace for its fourth consecutive day of losses for the first time since August.

The four-day losing streak comes amid worries concerning the outbreak of the coronavirus in China. Earlier, a second case of the deadly virus was confirmed in the United States, while dozens of other potential cases are being monitored across the country.

The Dow lost 290 points at 2:30 pm ET or 1%. Although shares of Intel surged over 7% on the back of strong earnings, Dow Inc, Merck,
JPMorgan and other companies pushed the index further into negative territory.
