Wall Street turns negative on coronavirus concerns

Markets in the United States traded in the red on Friday, reversing gains from earlier in the session after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the second case of a person infected with the coronavirus in the country. Furthermore, US Senator John Barrasso claimed the CDC is expected to confirm the third case of the disease soon.

The Dow Jones fell 0.32% at 11:45 am ET with Dow, whose stocks dropped 3.64% at 11:57 am, leading the losses.

The Nasdaq 100 lost 0.12% at 11:45 am ET with Trip.com and American Airlines plunging over 5%.

The S&P 500 slid 0.45% at 11:45 am ET. The worst performers were Synchrony Financial and Discover Financial Services, both plummeting over 9%.

The euro declined 0.30% against the dollar to sell for 1.10227 at 11:50 am ET.
