Europe closes mixed as Davos kicks off

Stocks on major European exchanges finished trading mixed on Monday as world leaders convened in Davos for the World Economic Forum. United States President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech in Davos on Tuesday as his impeachment trial in the Senate begins back home.

The DAX advanced 0.17% at the end of trading as Wirecard led the gains. In Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.43% with luxury goods company LVMH as the worst performer. The FTSE 100 lost 0.32%.

The euro was down 0.08% against the dollar at 5:40 pm CET, buying 1.10835, while the pound dipped 0.13% versus the greenback to go for 1.29980.
