Lufthansa Group and Google Cloud announced on Monday that they signed a strategic partnership that will enable the airline to improve its performance tracking and give better insight into flight irregularities.

The cooperation will result in the building of a new platform that will combine data on aircraft maintenance and rotation as well as crew assignment with information on passenger punctuality and any other possible delays including weather or congestion in the air in order to advise Lufthansa how to best get back on schedule in case of flight delays.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stated: "Through this collaboration, we have a significant opportunity to revolutionize the future of airline operations. We're bringing the best of Lufthansa Group and Google Cloud together to solve airlines' biggest challenges and positively impact the travel experience of the more than 145 million passengers that fly annually with them."
