Asian stocks trade higher as Alibaba's debuts in HK

Equities in the Asia-Pacific region traded higher on Tuesday as one of Asia's biggest companies started trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The retail giant jumped 6.25% as the trading kicked off.

Meanwhile, traders remained focused on the ongoing trade talks between the United States and China after Beijing said it hopes the two sides can continue working towards a mutual respect-based trade accord.

The Nikkei 225 rose 0.66% at 3:17 am CET. The Kospi Composite in South Korea added 0.45% at the same time.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng gained 0.09% at 3:18 am CET. The Shanghai Composite advanced a modest 0.05%, while the Shenzhen Composite declined 0.11% at 3:19 am CET.

In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 traded 0.32% in the green at 3:20 am CET.

The US dollar was 0.07% against the Japanese yen, selling for 109,0265​ at 3:23 am CET.
