Hungary considering to sanction Facebook over censorship

Hungary's Justice Minister Judit Varga announced on Monday her country might introduce sanctions against social media giants, including Facebook, due to "systematic abuses" of free speech.

In a Facebook post, Varga noted that the company "limits the visibility of Christian, conservative, right-wing opinions" through a "shadowban. I also have personal experience of that," she noted, referring to "the act of social media providers secretly and for political purposes, restricting the visibility and access of a user profile without its knowledge about it."

Varga concluded by saying that she would meet with members of the country's competition watchdog this week to discuss a possible response to "unfair commercial practices."
