Wall Street ends higher as Nasdaq, S&P surge

Wall Street ended with strong gains on Wednesday as the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 jumped as investor confidence remained strong on hopes of a successful COVID-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow claimed the United States economy is in "self-sustaining recovery."

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.05% at the end of the day as Apple rose 3.32%. The Nasdaq 100 surged 2.59% at the close, with Tesla jumping 13.12%. The S&P 500 was up 1.40%, as it ended on highs last seen in February. The index was led higher by Advanced Micro Devices which surged 7.45%.

The euro increased 0.41% to 1.17884 compared to the dollar at 4:11 pm ET.
