Volkswagen AG sales chief Jurgen Stackmann will no longer be a part of the German automaker, Handelsblatt reported on Wednesday, naming low sales of Golf and Passat, the company's flagship car models, as a possible reason.

The move could be one of the changes that Volkswagen announced in June when it revealed the company will reshuffle its management and reassign some of the responsibilities.

In an internal mail that was revealed mid-June, the company's CFO Frank Witter claimed the German carmaker anticipates a "bad second quarter."
