Adidas HR chief resigns over racism complaints

The global head of human resources at Adidas AG Karen Parkin will resign over complaints made by some company employees regarding the 'lack of diversity' and the sportswear giant's approach to racism, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

"I have decided to retire and pave the way for change," Parking said in a memo sent to Adidas' staff, describing her decision as a way for the company to advance. "I recognize that the focus on me has become a hindrance inhibiting the company from moving forward,” the memo read.

The disagreement between the HR chief and some of the employees started in June last year when Parkin stated she doesn't think the company has a racism problem, and the issue resurfaced amid the protests over the killing of George Floyd.
